Look for this poster on the door of room 182. When you see it, you'll know you're in the right place to pick up a form to join GRB's After Hours program. Any student in grades 9 and 10 is welcome.

GRB After Hours Program Debuts

By Dani Avery

Posters have been hanging around school, announcements have been made, and many students are mentioning G. Ray Bodley's new After Hours program. But, what is it exactly?

After Hours is open to any 9th or 10th grade student at GRB. Participants are provided a safe and supportive environment in which to grow, change, and learn.

GRB After Hours Site Supervisor Rebecca Poznoski said, "The purpose is to get students doing other things than sitting at home, but we also to teach them some life skills."

Some lessons that have been tackled are cooking, shopping, and learning how to make a budget. In the future, the qualified staff at the After Hours program are hoping to teach about hygiene, makeup, banking, and sports. They also play board games and go for walks outside.

After Hours runs everyday from 2:35 p.m. to 5:35 p.m. There is bus transportation home at both 4:15 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. The group meets in the library.

If a student is interested in joining, he or she can see Ms. Poznoski in room 182 and take a form for a parent/guardian to sign.

In addition, the After Hours staff will have a table at the Parent University on Saturday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. if anyone has questions or wants to join.

Staff member Zach Waugh said, "Having fun with the students and giving them an opportunity to have fun after school is what I am looking forward to the most."

Staff member Josh Ruel said, "Hopefully we can spread the word and get more students involved. Right now we have a small group, but we have to start small in order to create something great."

Don't wait. If eligible, join GRB's After Hours program because it is an after-school activity like no other and no one will want to miss out on the fun.
