Recent GRB Graduate Finds Racing Success

By Joshua Sokolic

Class of 2019 GRB graduate Tyler Thompson had a breakout year in the racing community. Thompson, second year Oswego Speedway driver and long-time dirt driver, started his string of victories this 2019 season. Thompson is an 18-year-old race car driver located in Fulton, New York.

Thompson races both dirt and asphalt and started his full time Oswego career in 2018. Thompson picked up a great win in the 63rd International Classic, one of the biggest Supermodified events in the US. He was the youngest driver ever to win.

A year prior, he won the World Short Track Championship.

Thompson is looking to head to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the 2020 Chili Bowl Nationals, getting behind the wheel of a dirt midget. He will take on competition from all over the country and try to beat some of the biggest names in racing.

Citi student Hunter Lawton said, "Tyler is amazing at racing and he will definitely go far."

Senior Cam Warren also noted what a good racer Thompson is.

Many at GRB are excited to continue following Thompson's career.
