Student Senate Looking for Student Opinions about Homecoming

By Dani Avery

Two recent Student Senate meetings were based around giving students some voice in what the 2019-2020 Homecoming celebration will include. In addition, other topics surrounding the rest of the school year were discussed.

Fulton Athletic Director Mr. Ells was able to attend the meeting to represent what was available from the sports coordination perspective, which was very helpful.

Some students have voiced opinions on having the dance the same day as the football game so Student Senate is working to accommodate this as well as they can.

Another concern that was voiced after this year's Homecoming is that there were scheduling conflicts when it came to other sports. Students appreciate that Mr. Ells is working hard to avoid similar conflicts next year. Some students would like to see the school pride increased around Homecoming and throughout the whole year.

Freshman Sammy McRae said, "Ms. Florio is very passionate about improving our school to how we would like it to be and Mrs. Parkhurst attends most meetings so she hears firsthand the problems we see throughout our school."

Senior and Student Senate President Jenna Ruzekowicz said, "Anyone interested in having a say about the dance, the dance day/time, or the football game should meet with us on Tuesdays during Guided Study Hall in the library."

Senior and Student Senate Treasurer Jasmine Criswell said, "It is so great being able to have a voice. We just encourage more underclassmen to come because it will give them a chance to influence events and decisions that are made at our school and affect them directly."
