On Tuesday, June 4, GRB's senior athletes were recognized for their accomplishments throughout their high school careers.

The banquet was hosted at the Oasis event center at Thunder Island. The ceremony recognized seniors with several awards and scholarships.

The night started off with guest speaker Jessica Frost. Frost, a graduate of GRB, is a teacher who also coaches Fulton volleyball. She talked about how sports brought her out of her shell. All of the section championship coaches, including Coach Murray, Coach Waldron, Coach Goodnough, and Coach Lacey, also said a few words. They went on to recognize the following award winners.

Gene Adams Most Improved Athlete Award: Domonique Johnson, Conner Ware, Andrew Hyde

Sox Stuber Sportsmanship Award: Kylie Jones & Jacob Gugula

Dan McGinnis Senior Athlete of the Year: Keara Patterson & Jake Ely

Rick Luciano Football Scholarship: Collin Baker-LaBreck

Dominic Sciacca Scholarship: Conner Ware

Danielle Rae Kunzwiler Guistina Scholarship: Jenna Ruzekowicz

Brian Dodge Scholarship: McKenna Bourgeois & Andrew Hyde

Margaret Beckwith Scholarship: Keara Patterson

Carl Barton Scholarship: Eric Shear

One of the most notable awards was the second annual Dominic Sciacca Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes former Fulton student Dominic Sciacca who lost his battle with cancer in 2017.

Conner Ware was the recipient of the Dominic Sciacca Scholarship and said, "It's an honor to accept the award. I know that Dom was a great guy."
