By Nora Kingsbury

Twenty-week marking period report cards were mailed home February 1, 2019. Sixty-eight percent of GRB students are meeting the school's attendance benchmark of 91 percent or better. That means that 666 out of 980 students are meeting this benchmark.

Building-wide, there were 281 students (29%) who achieved perfect attendance (100% attendance). Exemplary attendance, which is 96-99 percent attendance, was attained by 241 students (25%) and commendable attendance (91-95% attendance) was achieved by 144 students (15%).

In ninth grade, 74 students had perfect attendance (33%), 67 students had exemplary attendance (30%), and 24 students had commendable attendance (11%). One hundred sixty-five freshmen out of 221 had an attendance rate of 91 percent or better in Quarter Two.

In tenth grade, 91 students had perfect attendance (33%), 57 students had exemplary attendance (21%), and 54 students had commendable attendance (20%). Two hundred and two sophomores out of 276 had an attendance rate of 91 percent or better during Quarter Two.

In eleventh grade, 57 students had perfect attendance (26%), 62 students had exemplary attendance (29%), and 27 students had commendable attendance (12%). One hundred forty-six juniors out of 217 had an attendance rate of 91 percent or better in Quarter Two.

GRB's attendance certainly has room for improvement during the third quarter.

On Friday, February 15, VIP students will receive a catered lunch during lunch bells. Students with a VIP pass have many benefits not available for the rest of the students including the ability to use their pass as a pre-signed pass from lunch or study hall. Being a VIP also gives students four more passes in their agendas and they may also go outside during their lunch bell.

VIP passes for quarter two were handed out Monday, February 11 during Guided Study Hall. The criteria to be a VIP this quarter was 95 percent attendance, 95 percent on time to school, no major referrals, and all grades of 75 or above during Quarter Two.

Vice-Principal Ms. Stephenson congratulated students on these accomplishments.
