Social media has been on a steep incline in recent years. There are many different social media websites and apps that people use. These include Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Snapchat is an application on Apple and Android where you can snap a picture and send it to one or many of your friends. You can also add pictures to your stories that can show updates on how your day is going. Snapchat has recently become extremely popular with both teens and adults.

Instagram is a photograph application and website where you create a personalized profile and post pictures of your life or post pictures that you take and just want to public to see. You can add captions to the pictures and tag other people who are in the pictures.

Twitter is an application and website where you can “tweet” or post publicly and people can reply to them. You can also tweet pictures and videos. Twitter can also be used to keep up-to-date on what is going on in the world on the “news” portion of the app.

Facebook is commonly used to keep up with recent events and, like with Twitter, you can post updates on your life and people can comment on each post or like the post. Facebook also has another app called Facebook Messenger where you can message friends. Another app that is used to keep up to date with things is Linkedin, this app is similar to Facebook but can be used to post about businesses and bring more attention to a local business.

Facebook is not used as often by high school students. Junior Lyle Beeman said, “I mostly use Snapchat. I don't go on many other social media apps." It is clear Snapchat's popularity is on the rise.

Senior Kaleb Calkins said, “The only social app I don’t use is Twitter.”

Most kids have all of these social apps and are on them daily, posting updates and pictures. You can easily download any of these apps in the Apple and Android app stores for free.
