Fourth Straight Title for Wrestlers
By Camrin Galvin
It was a familiar story for Raider wrestling on Friday, January 21 when the team walked off with their fourth straight Section 3 championship title.
The Raiders traveled to Central Square for the first day of the Section 3 Duals. This year the tournament was a little different from past years as they reformatted the tournament from a one-day tournament to a two-day tournament.
In the first round they took on the Oswego Buccaneers beating them 77-9. During round two of the first day in the semis, the Raiders wrestled Jamesville-Dewitt, beating them 63-12 and putting the Raiders in the finals for the fifth straight year in a row.
On January 23, the finals were held in North Syracuse. In the finals with the Raiders was Indian River.
Fulton was predicted to only win by a few points. The match started out at 106 pounds, which was junior Dominick Hofmann. Hofmann had a tough match with one of Indian River's top wrestlers, Kane Lynch. Hofmann ended the match coming out with a win of 9-7, putting the Raiders up 3-0 to start the match.
The Raiders won nine out of the fifteen matches with five decisions, one major decision, two pins, and one forfeit with a final score of Fulton 37, Indian River 29.
