Fulton varsity softball has started off the year with an amazing record and beat many fierce rivals they lost to in recent years. Junior Mandee Price says they have a strong team this year and hopes to find much success throughout the remainder of the season. They have had a great run this year, but have many tough competitors coming up with 12 games in 16 days.
To date, their record is 5-2, placing them 4th overall in their SCAC Empire Conference. They beat Jordan-Elbridge 9-2, West Genesee 7-5, Central Square 18-7, Phoenix 14-9, and Cortland 4-3.
They lost to JD 2-15 and ESM 0-1.
The top three hitters of the team are Ashley Jackson with a .600 hitting average and 12 hits, Maddy Gilmore with a hitting average of .577 and 15 hits, and Erin Waloven with a hitting average of .385 and and 10 hits.
Camille Stevenson has a total of 59 strike outs.
Freshman Lydia Mirabito says their defense has started to improve, but their offense has been struggling the last two games. She believes with hard work during practices they will become a better team.
Senior Erin Waloven is pleased with how the team has been playing this year and hopes for the team to continue to improve and beat their tough competitors.
