Operation Kindness Event Happening Saturday

By Alyssa Kurak

On Saturday, December 14, Christmas spirit will be spread in Fulton, NY.

Operation Kindness is happening at the Community Room in Fulton City Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What is Operation Kindness? It is a free toy store for children and families in need who might not be able to give the gifts deserved this holiday season.

Each shopper may take two new or gently used gifts for each child in his or her home.

For those who attend, there will be free raffles with prizes such as popular toys and activities within the community.

In charge of this project is Nichole Lynn, but how the idea came to be is a different story.

Lynn explained, "The inspiration is my daughter Autumn. When she was nine she decided she wanted to do something to make sure every child in our community woke up with presents on Christmas morning."

Lynn added this is the third year the event is being held and her daughter still makes all the decisions about how everything works, with some guidance from her family, of course.

Autumn made Operation Kindness happen and is proof anyone can create the change they want to see.

After hearing this story, social studies teacher Mr. McCarten could not believe a nine-year-old started something so great and said, "Our nation needs more kindness."

To be a part of this event, you need to register by emailing slocumnichole@gmail.com with your name, the number of the children you will be shopping for, and the ages of those children. When you attend, be sure to have an ID on you as you may be asked to show it.
