The Fulton Boys Tennis Team is currently 0-7 overall and 0-6 in league play. They had four matches this week looking for their first win of the season.
On Monday, May 6, the Raiders hosted Chittenango in a non-league contest. Sophomores Caleb Dahar and Brasen Jodway came out with wins at second and third singles. Dahar edged out his match 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 while Jodway also won in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Seniors Eric Shear and Collin Bennett played first doubles together and also came out of their match victorious. They won their match 6-1, 6-1. Sidney Bradshaw lost his match at singles while Jon Simpson, Steven Thompson, Ryan Nichols, Kerian O’Hanlon, Reid Devendorf, and David Cordone also lost their matches at doubles. The Raiders lost that match by a final score of 4-3.
On Tuesday, May 7, the Raiders' last away match of the season was against Syracuse East in a non-league contest. This match was canceled due to the large amount of rain. Since this match is a non-league match, it will likely not be rescheduled.
On Wednesday, May 8, the Raiders took on Jamesville-Dewitt at home. This was one of the hardest matches of the season for the Raiders. Even though the Raiders put up a good fight, they ended up losing this match by a score of 7-0.
On Friday, May 10, the Raiders will take on the Auburn Maroons. This match is already in progress because it was previously rained out in the middle of the match against them earlier in the season.
Prior to the match on May 10, the Raiders record is now 0-9 overall with a 0-7 record in league matches.
The Raiders have a double header on Tuesday, May 14 against Cortland. The match is scheduled to start at 4:30 but could start early if Cortland arrives early. This is the boys tennis senior night where they will honor Collin Bennett, Ryan Barry, Eric Shear, Steven Thompson, and Jon Simpson.
Bennett stated, “Senior Night will be bittersweet. It will be my last high school match, but luckily for Eric and myself, we have another four years to look forward to in college.”
Simpson noted, “It will be a fun night. Hopefully, our team can pull out a win for us.”
Thompson added, “I am happy that I joined the team last year. I have grown to enjoy this sport a lot. Hopefully, myself and the other seniors enjoy their night.”
Come out to support the tennis team on their senior night!
