This summer, 25 GRB students, teachers Mrs. Hallatt, Frau Ruggio, and two other chaperones, Martha Hahn and Thelma Armour, will be heading out on a 20-day trip to tour different locations through Europe. They depart July 11 and return home on July 31.
On the tour, they will visit many places like London and Paris. While in Europe, they will be seeing Paris at night, Delphi, Pompeii, the Lucerne Region, Florence, Assisi, Rome, Mykonos Island, Samos Island, and Crete Island. They will be staying at nine hotels as well as on a cruise ship for three days while visiting Mykonos, Samos, and Crete Island.
They will tour eight of the locations for two days and the other three locations for one day each. There will be a significant amount of time to look around, shop, and try new things. While they are there, they will be meeting up with one of this year's foreign exchange students, Rebecca Fenili, in Rome and maybe in her hometown of Lucca.
The cost of the trip is quite pricey at a cost of $5680 with a recommended $1000 more for spending money for some meals that are not included and for souvenirs.
The students participating in the trip are Joshua Austin, Collin Bennett, Conner Billings, Sidney Bradshaw, Corinne Clarke, David Cordone, Julie Duval, Audra Grandy, Jacob Hahn, Abigail Hallatt, Chloe Hurlbut, and Evan Kistner.
Madison LaPoint, Nathaniel Lindsey, Aiden Longley, Griffin Marriner, Elizabeth McDermott, Sophia Pellenz, Lane Phillips, Christopher Schreck, Ana Snyder, Alexander Stoutenger, Makhali Voss, Erin Waloven, and Kira Whitehead are also going on the trip.
Senior Joshua Austin said, “I’m looking forward to trying the different foods as well as seeing all of the culture.”
Senior Christopher Schreck said, “I am really looking forward to experiencing new cultures and will enjoy learning more about the history.”
German teacher Frau Ruggio quoted St. Augustine as she expressed her excitement about the trip, saying, "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
She added, "It will be a fun and amazing experience for everyone attending the trip."
