Scheduling Process Underway for 2020-2021

Now that the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes have started scheduling their classes for next year, it is time for students to think about the classes they should be taking to have a better head-start for their college and career plans.

"One of the things we discuss with students in individual appointments are what their plans are after high school so that we can help them select classes that feed into something they want to do when they graduate," school counselor Ms. Rickert said.

Students will first make sure they are on track to graduate. Then, they will take their interests into consideration when designing their schedule for next year.

"We take a look at all the courses that are offered. We make sure, first, that we meet all course requirements to graduate and then in addition to that we focus on things students are interested in that will also be helpful to them in their future," Ms. Rickert added.

"Next year I am taking a lot of tech classes because when I'm older I want to go into trade school and feel that taking tech classes now sets me up for better success in the future," sophomore Kieran O'Hanlon said.

Some students may take AP Biology or AP Chemistry if they have an interest in the medical field or students could take mostly music classes, such as Music Theory and/or a musical ensemble with their respective instrument if they want to go into music.

The scheduling process is very important. Students need to be on time for their appointments and should be prepared with ideas and questions.
