On Monday, January 26, 54 G. Ray Bodley students were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS). Junior class members were thrilled to take this small first step toward their future.

To be accepted into this prestigious society, one must have an unweighted grade point average of 89.5% or greater and exemplify the four precepts of Leadership, Scholarship, Character, and Service.

"I am quite proud of the leadership and commitment from not only our current NHS members, but from the new inductees. These students exemplify excellence at GRB and I look forward to hearing of their contributions in future years," Principal Mrs. Donna Parkhurst said.

The induction was led by NHS senior officers, including Mark Tallents (President), Rebecca Bailey (Vice-President), Alexis Lighthall (Secretary), Andrew Smith (Treasurer), Chloe Hurlbut (Parliamentarian), and Alicia Merritt (Historian).

"Our members and new inductees have worked very hard and exhibit the National Honor Society's precepts of Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and giving to their community. We are very proud to have such exemplary students here at GRB and are excited about their bright futures," NHS advisor Mr. Nate Fasulo said.

To begin the ceremony, G. Ray Bodley choir members sang the National Anthem and the GRB Alma Mater. Their performance was followed by speeches from Mrs. Betsy Conners (Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction) and Mrs. Parkhurst.

"It was a pleasure to induct the 54 juniors, as well as some seniors. It is astonishing to see all of the accomplishments of my peers. I am so honored to have been a small part in this step towards their futures," Rebecca Bailey, GRB senior and NHS Vice-President, said.
