This year, the Quirk's Players fall production is Noises Off written by Micheal Frayn. The play is about a group of mediocre British actors putting on a show of their own called Nothing On. Act One is the dress rehearsal and no one knows their lines, people are forgetting when to use their props, and the show is not set up right. Act Two is a little bit after the show is under way, actors are fighting each other, having backstage romances, and trying to sabotage each other. Act Three takes place when the show has been on tour for six months and the actors have now declared war on each other.
This year, there were a lot of students who tried out for the play so Director Mr. Briggs wanted to choose an ensemble-type show. Mr. Briggs chose this show for some other reasons, as well. He said, "I chose this show because it is an incredibly fun and entertaining show. People enjoy laughing and an escape from the worries, stress, and problems we face in our daily lives. It's a great escape and a wonderful time to laugh.
He added, "It's also an extremely challenging piece to perform. It's a good opportunity to challenge our actors to grow on the stage."
Since a large number of actors tried out there are two casts who will perform the show on separate nights. The cast list consists of Griffin Marriner, Sutter Lewin, Noah Cordone, Alex Blaine, Marcus Wornick, Jacob Hahn, Justin Atwater, Wesley VanBuren, Ronde Wood, Olivia Hawthorne, Becca Bailey, Kaylee Foster, Gabby Tomarchio, Kira Whitehead, Megan Acker, and Jaidyn Perry.
Performance dates and show times are Thursday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, October 26 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. They will be performing at in the auditorium at GRB. The turn out is expected to be a good one.
Mr. Briggs said, "We are hoping the turn out will be wonderful. It is a fun show and a great evening out to support our student actors."
