It was the first day of school. I came into Journalism not knowing at all what we were going to do.
We all read a little bit of a textbook. This was a little boring, but it helped. Then we were told we had to write stories for RaiderNet, our online school newspaper. We got to pick our own topics for the most part and we all went and got to write about the school and our favorite, most important memories of the year.
I’ve covered everything from sports, to student council meetings, to live events in the library. The stories never stop!
Also, being able to interact with new people everyday to find more information was like a second education. I was being informed about others' talents and by clubs and events, which showed me how much our school really has to offer.
It also has shown me how to get answers and how to really do research and then being able to put it in my words.
Another great feeling is seeing a peer or a teacher read your article and admire your writing. That is how you get more stories! They want you to write their stories now.
And look, now you just opened up another opportunity to write another story to be passed on and to keep the memories living forever.
That is why I highly recommend Journalism and I appreciate everything it has taught me.
All of us at RaiderNet hope you have a great summer! See you next year!
