New this year at GRB is the Career Exploration Center. It is shaping up to be one of the most helpful programs for students. The Career Exploration Center is located inside the Library Media Center and run by Mrs. Ferlito. She is the work-based learning coordinator and she noted she wanted to make a space where kids can be comfortable.
The goal of this new center is to prepare kids for life after high school. The way they achieve this is by teaching the basics of career prep, money management, life skills, and college prep.
Mrs. Ferlito said, "The students are here to help themselves." All students are invited to stop in, check it out, and utilize its resources and Mrs. Ferlito's help.
There will be workshops offered to anyone who would like to learn about a particular topic. There will be a monthly schedule up so students can see what awesome workshops are going to be available. In order to go to a workshop, students will need a pre-signed pass, which you can get the same way you would get a library pass.
There will also be a program that will give students an opportunity to get a National Career Readiness Certificate, which is a new credential students can get on their diplomas. It tells future employers that a student is ready for a job.
Anyone with questions can contact Angela Ferlito at aferlito@fulton.cnyric.org or call (315) 593-5400 with the extension 2622.
