On Thursday, June 6, 43 seniors from G. Ray Bodley departed to Virginia for this year's senior trip. The three days were filled with fun activities enjoyed by all seniors on the trip.
Upon arriving in Virginia after a thirteen-hour bus ride, students went to the hotel and got situated. From there students were able to go get something to eat, go swimming, or just hang out until seven o'clock. At 7:30 p.m. students went to a local town for a ghost tour that explained the history of the town and the issues that were and still are involved with the town when it comes to paranormal activity.
On the second day, seniors went to the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center. There was a variety of marine life including turtles, sharks, various kinds of fish, and more. After walking around the aquarium, everyone headed to the beach where there was a variety of things to do. Students could swim, go shopping, eat some lunch, ride electric scooters, which was a really fun time, or walk the pier. After time at the beach, everyone assembled onto the bus and headed to dinner at Golden Corral. From there, they went to "Ripley’s Believe It or Not!", which was a very cool and interesting place. They then went back to the hotel where there was time to go and enjoy the indoor pool or hang out.
On the final day, seniors headed to Busch Gardens for the day. Busch Gardens is an amusement park with thrilling rides and attractions. The park is also a very cultural place as there are different countries and locations spread out throughout the park. Those include France, New France, Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Festa Italia (opening in 2020), Oktoberfest, and Germany. The roller coasters were all spread out through those countries. There was also a catered lunch at the park. After that, everyone assembled onto the bus and headed home, arriving back at GRB around 2:30 a.m.
Senior David Janaro said, “I enjoyed seeing all the different attractions and cultures in Busch Gardens that you wouldn’t typically see in New York.”
Senior Everett Stacy said, “I enjoyed that everyone got along and had a good time. We also went to some really cool places.”
