On Wednesday, December 4, GRB's boys basketball team won their opening game of the season against Oswego.

Coach Broderick said, "It's a really, really positive and cool experience for our student athletes to be playing in a great rivalry game to open up the season in front of a great student body. It's very much appreciated that The Tribe came out in big, big numbers last night."

The bleachers were packed with family and friends and the game went into overtime and ended with a score of 64-60.

Coach Broderick noted, "It's a win partially because of the great fan support we had last night. Our students really got us through some adverse times during that game."

He explained it was a hard-fought game, one which went back and forth, and in overtime, junior Jack Broderick made a "huge three." This was after being tied at half time and then tied again at the end of regulation.

Broderick pointed out that senior Seth Grimshaw had seven points in a row in overtime to contribute to the win. He said Marcus Shepard also had a great game and noted juniors Cyrus Trude and Anthony Bennett both contributed at a high level in the first varsity game of their careers.

"It was a pleasure to watch our guys just play as hard as they did through the whole game with the environment being as cool as it was for our kids. It was just a fun game to be a part of," Coach Broderick said.
