It has been a busy week at GRB! Spirit Week kicked off on Monday, September 30 and students and staff have been very creative with their apparel to match each day's theme.
Monday (9/30) was an American theme of 'Merica Monday. It was also a half-day for students and there were no classes. Everyone went to the turf and listened to some cheers from our cheerleaders. Some snacks were also provided. Students then went up to the gymnasium for a guest speaker who talked about Native American culture.
The Native American speaker who came to speak with the students was John Buck, or Dahahdeiate, which means early rising or high riser.
Tuesday (10/1) was Twin Day and students dressed up with one other peer to match and be twins.
Wednesday (10/2) was Character Day, where students dressed up as their favorite characters from a movie, book, or TV show.
On Wednesday night GRB had a block party with free food and drinks for students and their families from 5-6 p.m. Open House was from 6-7:30 p.m. About ten percent of GRB's families came out to meet teachers.
Thursday was Tropical Day for the students and teachers who dressed up in beach-ready clothes.
On Friday, students and staff are showing off Raider Pride across the halls and the community for Raider Pride Day! Every student and teacher received a free Raider Pride shirt to wear. The shirts were provided courtesy of Student Senate.
Some students were disappointed that there was no football game this week after some scheduling changes. The pep rally will now be on Friday, October 18 before that night's game. Some students will also be dressing up that week.
Friday, October 4 is the Homecoming dance, which will be a semi-formal event for students. Refreshments and food will be there along with a DJ. Come out and have fun, GRB!
