On Sunday, January 5, Fulton formed a varsity lacrosse team to participate in the annual SUNY Oswego Varsity Indoor Lacrosse Tournament. This tournament took place at the Romney Field House in Oswego.

Fulton played their rivals, Oswego, in their first game. They fought hard, but still came out with a loss. Senior Sam Cary scored in the first game along with senior Domenic Dashnau scoring a second goal for Fulton. The end score was 8-2 with Oswego on top.

The second game was Fulton vs. Rochester-area Webster-Thomas. Fulton played very hard but still ended up with a loss. There was great teamwork during the second game between everyone, giving the Raiders a 9-6 loss. Junior Ethan Caruana had three goals, Cary ended with two goals in the second game, and senior Hayden Sachel had one goal in the second game, as well.

The Raiders ended the tournament with a third loss against Section V powerhouse Canandaigua. The Raiders had lost a few teammates by the third game due to health issues, but still played hard until the last whistle.

All the games played were very competitive and fast-paced.

Varsity Coach Koproski likes these tournaments because it gives players a chance to see a different style of play that Fulton does not usually see during the season.

“I feel playing teams normally we wouldn’t see during the season helps improve our players’ skills and knowledge of the game,” Coach Koproski said.

After the tournament, senior Camran Andreotta said, “The tournament was a good experience. All in all I had fun and it improved my game so I'm glad I participated in this tournament."

For junior Ethan Caruana, it was his comeback to lacrosse, as he took a break from the sport for a few years to pursue his great soccer career.

He said, “Coming back and being with my lacrosse family feels great, and being able to still bring something to the table with my team was an amazing feeling. I had a great time playing today.”

Up next for Fulton Lacrosse is the 2020 season starting in March.

The team is coming off last year’s 2019 season with tons of success. Fulton hosted a Sectionals game and won. Fulton proceeded to the Section III Class B Semifinals where they fought hard against Fayetteville Manlius, but came up with a loss.

It was the first time Fulton had won a sectional game and made it to semifinals in 30 years, which was really great for the varsity lacrosse program.

The coaches and players hope to see all the support they can get this spring as the team aims for another great season!
