GRB Students and Staff Enjoy Virtual Spirit Week

By Andrew Smith

From May 4 to May 8, G Ray Bodley's Student Senate hosted a virtual spirit week. Students tagged the school's Instagram page @the_tribe2020 or used the hashtag #RaiderTribePride to submit photos. Students started voting Monday, May 11 using a Google Form to decide which students were most spirited. The winners will be receiving gift cards.

Spirit Week commenced on Monday, May 4with the theme "Raider Pride Day! Post a picture or video showing your Raider Pride!!" Here is what GRB students and teachers were up to!

Above is GRB senior Andrew Smith in his Raider Pride shirt outside of Costco. Smith's mother's employer surprised their seniors by putting them on billboards across Central New York.

Day Two of Spirit Week was Tuesday, May 5 with the theme "Tie Dye Tuesday! Post a photo or video of you making something Tie Dye or wearing it!" Let's see what our community did...

Above is freshman Paige Kreinheder in her tie dye with her adorable cat.
Above is GRB teacher Mr. Scro chillin' in his tie dye! It is safe to say he spent some time as a hippie!

The theme on Wednesday, May 6 was "Bake Off Day! Post a photo of you baking or something you baked!" Here's whats going on in the kitchens of our students and staff!

Above is Mrs. Ferlito showing off her vegan banana bread!
Above is Mr. Scro, yet again! He is pictured doing some at-home cooking with his daughter.
Above is junior Corrine Clarke doing some baking with her family.

On Thursday, May 7, the theme was "Animal Feature! Post a cute or funny video/picture of your pets!" Lets see what the "Quarantine Co-Workers" are up to!

Above is Ms. Florio's adorable puppy, Mia! She's definitely enjoying everyone being home! Look at that smile!
Above is Mr. Snarls Barkley, Ms. Palmer's dog! Look at that cute face!
Above is Meilin Lamanna's bunny Kai, chowin' down on a dandelion!

Friday, May 8 wrapped up Spirit Week and the theme was "Exercise/Sports Day! Post a photo or video of you exercising or doing a sports trick!"

Pictured above is Meilin Lamanna doing what normal people call jumping over her problems or, as athletes say, "hurdles."
Pictured above is freshman Paige Kreinheder lifting some very serious weights.

Sports Day did not quite get the submissions that were expected! Lesson learned, GRB!

To wrap up Spirit Week, on Friday, May 8, Student Senate hosted GRB Trivia Night on Kahoot! There were questions about Fulton history, GRB sports, GRB teachers, and some other modern day questions. The Kahoot opened up around 7 p.m. and went until about 7:45. The winners were:

1. Mrs. Nylen and her family! A.K.A. "ArcticAlpaca"

2. Patrice Clary! A.K.A. BraveDeer

3. Reagan LaPage and her family! A.K.A. Cleverlbex

Congratulations to our winners!

Student Senate Co-Advisor Ms. Florio was pleased with how the event went and said, "Special shout-out to the Ingersolls (Lexi and her mom) for creating the questions and taking the time to fine-tune them with us. And shout-out to Mr. Sherman for help with live-streaming and taking time on his Friday night. The prizes were gift cards ($10.00) to a local restaurant of choice. Mrs. Nylen generously donated her winnings back."

She added, "We will plan another event. Stay tuned. Please give us feedback on this event so we can make improvements. We know the delay issue affected some people so we will try to figure out a way to work around this!"

Fun was had by all this week!
