Boys Basketball Takes The Win Against Central Square

By Breahna Boots

On Tuesday, January 7, GRB's boys basketball team had a home game against Central Square.

"It was a really, really emotional game more than anything else," Coach Broderick said.

Before the game, during warm-up, senior Seth Grimshaw, the team's lead scorer, was injured and unable to play.

"Seth's tough, but we'll make sure he's healthy before he plays," Coach Broderick explained.

Until this year, the team had not beat Central Square in quite a few years, but all that changed Tuesday night when the Raiders beat the Redhawks with a final score of 50-47.

Junior Jack Broderick started the game off by making the first five points. By the end of the game, he had scored a total of 16 points.

Coach Broderick noted that junior Marcus Shepherd had "by far the best game he's had all season." By the end of the game, he had scored a total of 23 points.

Freshman Sam Cotton helped the team out by playing almost the entire game.

Toward the end of the game, sophomore Ethan Locastro made two foul shots. Coach Broderick noted, "If he didn't make it, it would've been harder for us to win."

Junior Cyrus Trude ended up scoring with under a minute left in the game.

"It was a packed game. The community came out, our students certainly came and it was just a great atmosphere for our kids to play in. It was just so cool for them to experience that and have a win like that against a really, really good team," Coach Broderick said.

Central Square is known as one of GRB's biggest rivals.

"I'm glad I'm cheering for a team that works so hard and it's cool to see how all their hard work pays off," senior Samantha Humphrey said.

Congratulations to the boys basketball team on their big win!
