The Fulton boys tennis team is looking to continue their success from last season. The team was 11-2 overall and 10-2 in league play. The Raiders finished in second place in their league behind the JD Rams.

The Raiders also had many players qualify for Sectionals where the team also finished in second place. The team lost the title to the FM Hornets by only three points.

This season, the team has a total of 17 players. The team lost six valuable seniors last year, but were able to take in three freshmen who are already showing great potential.

The team has some very hard matches ahead against JD, Liverpool, and Cortland. The team should have many competitive matches this year.

Senior Collin Bennett stated, “My goal is for our team not only to be a scholar athlete team, but to qualify as many people for Sectionals as possible. As for my personal goals, I strive to win Sectionals at whatever spot I qualify for and to have a fun senior year.”

Senior Steven Thompson noted, “As a second year player, I expect to maintain a starting position and would like to finish with a winning record.”

Freshman Ryan Nichols stated, “I would like to win at least half of the matches I play in this season. My main goal is to overall become a better player.”

This will be Coach Goodnough's final season before his retirement. He stated, “As for every season, I would like our team to be a scholar athlete team and win a league championship. I also expect my players to be giving 100% every time they hit the court and be present to every practice and match. Not only do I have goals for our whole team, but I also have goals set for each player on the team.”

The first match of the season is Thursday, April 4 against the team's rival, the Oswego Buccaneers. The match is at the G. Ray Bodley tennis courts at 4:30 p.m.
