On Wednesday, January 30, a threat was surfacing around social media of a student planning an attack on the school.
The threat was taken seriously by the school and by the Fulton Police Department, which went on to prove that the student had no capability to inflict harm onto students, staff, or the building itself.
We all should take this threat as a learning experience. Any threat should be taken seriously. If you feel it may have a negative impact on the school or a student, report it to a trusted adult or a school official.
Threats are not okay to make and never will be acceptable. Not only are there disciplinary actions within your school, but they could have a long, negative impact on your life. School is intended to allow you to have a place to learn and build friendships. If you are having a troubled time, whether it is at school or home, talk to someone you trust before making a threat that is very unnecessary to say.
Some students noted that it was a terrible choice on the student's part to make a threat that serious and that people need to be more careful about what they write and post because people will see it and take it seriously.
Other students wishes the school had provided more information to students to avoid some of the panic that occurred.
