Thank You

By Andru Walts

I would like to first say a big thank you to one of my favorite, if not my favorite, teachers in my school career, Ms. Hawley. You have made school so much better coming into your room for class, study hall, lunch and Guided Study Hall.

We have gotten a lot closer in the past three years. I love all your classes from you yelling at me in cooking to yelling at me to read A Lost Boy and A Child Called It. It's been a blast and it stinks that this is how it ends. I was looking forward to ending the school year with you and not through a computer screen.

Senior Nevaeh Tucker said, “ I would like to say thank you to Ms. Hawley for all that she has done. I may not have had her as my teacher for very long, but I almost immediately gained a connection with her, unlike any other teacher I’ve had at GRB. She has had the most impact on me by being so caring and really like a school mom."

She added, "I miss so much going to her class room for every free bell that I have. She might be strict with all her kids, including me, which is what made me so punctual this year compared to last year. But it’s because she cares so much about us and shaping us into great people and I can’t thank her enough for all the work she has put into us. Going to her class made me motivated for school everyday, I could always feel safe when I was with Ms. Hawley. Thank you so much Ms. Hawley for being the best teacher I’ve ever had.”

Senior Alicia Merritt said, “I’d like to thank Mr. Sievers for giving me a sense of belonging in his classroom, and allowing me to have a safe space although I was not a student of his. Thank you to him for supporting me and showing his approval and excitement towards all of my milestones in life. I truly will miss him. He was like a father figure to me and I will appreciate him forever.”

So many students are thankful to their teachers and will never forget the difference they made in their lives.
