Seniors Preparing for College

By Rylie Cotton

Preparing for college is one of the most exciting times in a senior's life. With that being said, a lot goes into starting college, as there is an overwhelming amount of paperwork, loans, and bills.

Once those scary things are taken care of, preparing for college is fun. You get to buy stuff for your dorm room, make new friends, and get more freedom.

When choosing the right school to attend, many people go and visit and tour the campus and the dorms. Next is the application period. You have to apply to the college you want to attend.

Many four year schools require an essay and references. They also require every student to take the SAT or the ACT. This is different for many community colleges.

Two-year schools do not require the SAT or the ACT, but they do require every student to take a placement test to have an idea on the knowledge of each student.

Senior Collin Bennett said, "Choosing a college was really stressful, but now that my decision has been made it feels like a lot of weight is lifted off my shoulders. I am getting really excited for college and the possibilities to come."

Senior Kelsey Pickard said, "Preparing for college is scary along with deciding what school was best for me. I am extremely thankful for New Visions this year helping me prepare for college."

Senior Lindsay McCraith said, "College preparation for me has been good. It is pretty easy once you follow all the steps. It's crazy to think we are leaving so soon."

Although senior year is often the best year of high school, it comes with its obstacles, but with the help of all the teachers and counselors in the school, the seniors will be prepared for success while they move on to further their education.
