The last band concert of the 2018-2019 school year was a massive success. The Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and "Contagious" all played on May 15.

Each senior received an award for being a member of the band. Those members consisted of Faith Sharkey, Aiyana Congden, Nate Lindsey, Hailey Nugent, Molly Metcalf, Nick Brown, Dani Avery, Caleb Bowen, Justin Hatch, Ryan Barry, Jon Simpson, Eric Shear, Aiden Franco, Raiden Hansen, Devan Ketcham, and Alex Dombroski.

Each year, Mr. Caviness gives out three large awards. These are a wind ensemble award, jazz ensemble award, and an extra effort award. Brown received the wind ensemble award, Shear received the jazz ensemble award, and Sharkey was the recipient of the extra effort award.

Brown stated, “It has been quite a ride in my four years of band. This was a fantastic concert to end with.”

Hatch noted, “We still have majors and the Memorial Day parade to look forward to. It still just does not seem real that Wednesday was the last concert.

Dombroski added, “I have really enjoyed my years playing in the jazz band. I will continue music in college, but for my high school career to be over, it is crazy.”

On May 21, the wind ensemble will play in a competition at the Mexico Middle School. The group is hoping to receive the highest award possible, gold with distinction.
