ประวัติ

1884 : Heinrich Wilhelm Gottfried von Waldeyer-Hartz บรรยายไว้ครั้งแรก

ว่าเป็นthe incomplete ring of lymphoid tissue อยู่ใน naso-oropharynx

ความสำคัญ

เป็นตัวป้องกันเชื้อ ด่านแรกก่อนเข้าร่ายกายทางจมูกหรือทางช่องปาก

ประกอบด้วย

1. The four struture tonsils

โครงสร้างต่อมทอลซิลทั้ง 4 ส่วน

Tonsils เป็นกลุ่มระบบน้ำเหลือง Waldeyer's tonsillar ring

มี

1.1 adenoid tonsil อยู่ที่ roof ของ nasopharynx ใต้กระดูก sphenoid

In the roof of the nasopharynx, Covered with respiratory epithelium

1.2 two tubal tonsils อยู่ที่ทางเปิด auditory tube ที่เข้าสู่ nasapharynx

In the roof of the nasopharynx, Covered with respiratory epithelium

1.3 two palatine tonsils อยู่ในช่องปาก ที่เราเห็นด้านในเวลาอ้าปาก

In the oropharynx, Covered with stratified non-keratinized squamous epithelium

1.4 lingual tonsils อยู่ที่ด้านหลังโคนลิ้น

At the posterior one-third of the tongue, Covered by stratified non-keratinized squamous epithelium

ซึ่งมีบทบาทสำคัญต่อ immune system

2. MALT Mucosa-assoviate lymphoid tissue

เป็น Lymphatic tissue เล็กๆที่กระจายอยู่ใน mucosa บนพื้นผิวของ pharynx

Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue found in mucosa of the gut (GALT) and bronchus (BALT),

as well as in the every mucosal lining of the body

ปัญหา

หากเกิดการอักเสบติดเชื้อ ทำให้เกิด Adenitis / tonsilitis ได้
