159 Dooms-day
Dag des Oordeels
Kom we gaan,
Blijf toch niet staan.
Roep het stof om op te stijgen.
Tot we in de ogen wrijven;
Alle leden polsen even:
Is je broeder ook in leven?
Kom we gaan,
De Dag breekt aan.
Stof is doof voor ‘t klankenspel
Voor Uw trompet, knielt het wel,
Door die mooie klank verdwijnt
Zelfs de Tarantula pijn.
Kom we gaan,
Hier ver vandaan!
Laat elk graf bekennen dat
Geen van hen ooit iets bezat;
‘t Is de starheid het vlees
Die het graf die les soms leest.
Kom we gaan,
De kudde dwaalt.
Het ene deel waait met de wind,
Waardoor soms een vriend verdrinkt;
De rest verwijnt in vuile damp
Er dreigt verdriet, een grote ramp.
Kom we gaan,
Naar ’n nieuw bestaan
De mens geslingerd uit de orde,
De wereld is verscheurd geworden.
Uw verstomd orkest, O Heer,
Speelt weer, klank ter Uwer eer.
Dooms-day
Come away,
Make no delay.
Summon all the dust to rise,
Till it stirre, and rubbe the eyes;
While this member jogs the other,
Each one whispring, Live you brother?
Come away,
Make this the day.
Dust, alas, no musick feels,
But thy trumpet: then it kneels,
As peculiar notes and strains
Cure Tarantulaes raging pains.
Come away,
O make no stay!
Let the graves make their confession,
Lest at length they plead possession:
Fleshes stubbornnesse may have
Read that lesson to the grave.
Come away,
Thy flock doth stray.
Some to windes their bodie lend,
And in them may drown a friend:
Some in noisome vapours grow
To a plague and publick wo.
Come away,
Help our decay.
Man is out of order hurl’d,
Parcell’d out to all the world.
Lord, thy broken consort raise,
And the musick shall be praise.
