புலன் ஆசைகளுக்கு விருப்பம் இல்லாத ஒருவர்;

வேட்கை இல்லாத ஒருவர்;

குழப்பத்தைத் தாண்டிச் சென்றவர்;

அவர் விடுதலை

எப்படிப் பட்டதாக இருக்கும்?

[Todeyya:]

One in whom

there dwell no sensualities;

one in whom

no craving is found;

one who has crossed over perplexity —

his emancipation:

what is it like?

[புத்தர்:]

புலன் ஆசைகளுக்கு விருப்பம் இல்லாத ஒருவர்;

வேட்கை இல்லாத ஒருவர்;

குழப்பத்தைத் தாண்டிச் சென்றவர்;

அவர் விடுதலை பெற்றவர்.

அதைத் தவிர மேலும் விடுதலை அவருக்கு இல்லை.

[The Buddha:]

One in whom

there dwell no sensualities;

one in whom

no craving is found;

one who has crossed over perplexity —

his emancipation

is not other than that.

[தோடிய்யர்:]

அவருக்கு ஏக்கங்கள் இல்லையா அல்லது

இன்னமும் ஏக்கங்கள் உள்ளனவா?

அவர் விவேகமுற்றவரா அல்லது

மேலும் விவேகத்தை வளர்க்கின்றவரா?

அறிவாற்றலுள்ள சாக்கியரே,

முனிவர் யார் என்பதை விளக்குங்கள்.

பின் முனிவர் எப்படிப்பட்டவர்

என்பதை நானும் அறிந்து கொள்கிறேன்.

[Todeyya:]

Is he without desire,

or desiring?

Discerning or

still acquiring discernment?

Describe the sage to me, Sakyan

with the all-around eye,

so that I may recognize

what he is like.

[புத்தர்:]

அவருக்கு ஏக்கங்கள் இல்லை,

மேலும் ஏக்கங்கள் இருக்காது.

அவர் விவேகமுற்றவர்,

மேலும் விவேகத்தை வளர்க்கவேண்டியதில்லை.

முனிவர்

எதற்கும் சொந்தம் கொண்டாடாதவர்,

புலன் இன்பங்கள்

தோன்றுவதற்கான ஆசைகளிடம்

சிக்காதவர்,

என்பதை அறிந்து கொள் தோடியா.

[The Buddha:]

He's without desire,

not desiring;

discerning,

not still acquiring discernment.

Recognize the sage, Todeyya,

as having nothing,

unentangled

in sensuality

and becoming.
