பவத்திறம் அறுகெனப் பாவை நோற்ற காதை
ஆதிக் கண்டம் ஆகும் என்ப
பேதைமை செய்கை என்றிவை இரண்டும்
காரண வகைய ஆதலானே
இரண்டாம் கண்டம் ஆகும் என்ப
உணர்ச்சி அருஉரு வாயில் ஊறே
நுகர்ச்சி என்று நோக்கப்படுவன
முன்னவற்று இயல்பான் துன்னிய ஆதலின் 30-140
மூன்றாம் கண்டம் வேட்கை பற்று
கரும ஈட்டம் எனக் கட்டுரைப்பவை
மற்று அப் பெற்றி நுகர்ச்சி ஒழுக்கினுள்
குற்றமும் வினையும் ஆகலானே
நான்காம் கண்டம் பிறப்பே பிணியே
மூப்பே சாவு என மொழிந்திடும் துன்பம்
என இவை பிறப்பில் உழக்கு பயன் ஆதலின்
Ignorance and Kamma Formations both
belong to the cause category
and therefore belong to the first division.
Consciousness, name and form, sense bases, contact
feelings are five
effects of the previously said
and belong to the second division.
The links so described craving, clinging, becoming
are the effects of the feelings etc. from the
previous division which are the causes and
are part of the third division.
The forth division has birth, disease
aging, death described as unsatisfactory.
These are inherent in a being that is born and are effects.
135. பேதைமை செய்கை என்றிவை இரண்டும் -
நிதானம் பன்னிரண்டனுள் பேதமையும் செய்கையுமாகிய இரண்டும்;

136. காரண வகைய ஆதலானே -
ஏனையவற்றிற்குக் காரணமாகும் கூறுபாடுடையதாதலால்;

முதற் கண்டமெனப்படும் என்று சான்றோர் கூறுவர்.

நுகர்ச்சி என்று நோக்கப்படுவன -
உணர்ச்சியும், அருவுருவும், வாயிலும், ஊறும், நுகர்ச்சியு மென்று காணப்படும் நிதானங்கள் ஐந்தும்;

140. முன்னவற்று இயல்பான் துன்னிய ஆதலின்
- முன்னே முதற் கண்டத்துக்குக் கூறப்பட்ட காரணங்களின் காரியமாக; துன்னியவாதலின் - வந்தன வாதலால்;

துன்னுதல் – நெருங்குகை, பொருந்துதல், Being near or close together; To be fitted, joined, attached
துன்னியார் – உறவினர், நண்பர் Friends, relations, adherents;
137. இரண்டாம் கண்டம் ஆகும் என்ப -
இரண்டாம் கண்டமெனப்படும் என்பர்.

141, 142. மூன்றாம் கண்டம் வேட்கை பற்று
கரும ஈட்டம் எனக் கட்டுரைப்பவை -
வேட்கையும் பற்றும் கருமத் தொகுதியு மெனப் பகுத்தோதப்படும் நிதானம் மூன்றும்;
வேட்கையும், பற்றும் குற்றக் குணங்களாகவும். நுகர்ச்சி குற்றத்தின் காரியமும் ஆதலான் மூன்றாம் கண்டத்தில் பகுக்கப்பட்டன.

143, 144 மற்று அப் பெற்றி நுகர்ச்சி ஒழுக்கினுள்
குற்றமும் வினையும் ஆகலானே -
அப்பெற்றி - அம்முறையே; நுகர்ச்சி யொழுக்கினுள் குற்றமும் வினையு மாகலான் - உணர்ச்சி முதல் நுகர்ச்சியீறாக ஐந்தனாலும் நிகழும் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கண் விளையும் குற்றமும், அதற்குரிய வினையுமாதலால்; மூன்றாங் கண்டம் - மூன்றாங் கண்டம் எனப்படும்.
Alternate Commentary. மேலே கூறிய அவா முதலிய தீய குணங்களும் அவற்றாலுண்டாகும் தீயவொழுக்கங்களுமாக அமைதலானே மூன்றாம் பகுதி என்று கூறப்படும்;
மற்றும் – மேலும், மீண்டும், Besides, Again; பெற்றி - விதம், Method, manner, order;
are the effects of the feelings etc. from the
previous division which are the causes and
are part of the third division.
145, 146, 147. நான்காம் கண்டம் பிறப்பே பிணியே
மூப்பே சாவு என மொழிந்திடும் துன்பம்
என இவை பிறப்பில் உழக்கு பயன் ஆதலின் -
பிறப்பு, பிணி, மூப்பு, சாவு என மொழிந்திடுந் துன்பமென இவை - பிறப்புப் பிணிமூப்புச் சாக்காடாகக் கூறப்படும் துன்பமும் என்ற இவை; பிறப்பில் உழக்கு பயனாதலின் - பிறந்தவுடம்பின்கண் எய்தி வருந்தும் வினைப்பயனாதலால்; நான்காம் கண்டம் - நான்காம் கண்டமெனப்படும்.

உழக்குதல் – பழகு, கலக்கு To fill in; நிறைதல். பிறப்பில் உழக்கு பயன் – பிறப்பினால் உண்டாகும் வினைப்பயன்.

290. 2. But there are four sections, which are determined by the beginnings and ends of the links, that is to say, ignorance/ formations is one section; consciousness/mentality-materiality/ sixfold base/contact/feeling is the second; craving/clinging/ becoming is the third; and birth/ageing-and-death is the fourth. This is how it should be understood to have four different sections.
