Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I have an MA student working on access to health care in Vietnam. She found

reference to data on "problems with local health care providers by

expenditure quintile" from the 1992-93 and 1997-98 VLSS, including data on

lack of facilities, lack of medication and cleanliness. However, when she

tries to find more current information from the 2004 Living Standards

Survey, as reported on the website of the General Statistics Office of

Vietnam (http://www.gso.gov.vn), there does not appear to be any

corresponding data.

Does anyone know if it is because that issue is no longer included in the

survey, or because it is just not on the website? Are there any suggestions

of where she might find this information?

Best,

Dear Alec,

Your student may want to look at the National Health Survey instead of VLSS. Hanoi School of Public Health can be a good source too. (Dean Le Vu Anh at lva@hsph.edu.vn)
