Subject: Post - Cold War Relations between Vietnam & Cambodia

Hello VSG,

I've followed with great interest some of the discussions which have unfolded among list members for the past year. It's only now that I'm making the leap to post my inquiries to the list. I'm currently working on a research project on contemporary relations between Vietnam and Cambodia in the post-Cold War period. Most publications have focused on the Third Indochina Conflict, but the interest seems to stop there. Any suggestions/ guidance on publications, articles, etc. that deal with relations between these two countries (politically, diplomatically, economically, militarily, etc.) from 1989 onwards would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ngan Nguyen

Dear Ngan Nguyen:

A fascinating topic...I dont have specific articles for you, I'm sure that others can help you, but I can say that the last time I was in Vietnam (Nov 2004) I met and talked with young army men from Cambodia and Laos who were receiving training for 3 years in the Vietnamese Army.

I'm sorry I dont know the details but this is an eye opener, isn’t it? They said: "the past is past, now we are all looking forward.

" good luck,
