Subject: [Vsg] Vietnamese youth and political engagement

Hi All,

My name is Tuan Ngo and I'm a senior at Occidental College. I am writing to

ask for feedback from the group about my proposed research on Vietnamese

youth and political engagement. Also, I am hoping to gain contacs of

individuals who may know more about this topic. In particular, I hope to

get contacts of university/college professors, organization directors in

Vietnam, and others who are doing research in Vietnam during the months of

December 2006-January 2007.

My research will be in the format of a documentary. I want to do a

descriptive study examining youth culture in an attempt to understand how

Vietnamese coming generation may or may not affect political transformation.

One of the questions we want to examine is whether Vietnamese youth are

building spaces for political engagement/conversation and if so, what they

look like. This is why my contacts with university/college professors are

so important as I will be relying on them to gain access to their classrooms

and their students.

I understand that is still very broad in scope, and I am still narrowing the

focus. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Sincerely,

Tuan Ngo
