I am curious, are there many private libraries in Vietnam, and if so do

any compare to the one described below?

Judith and James, I wonder whether we can dup the collection by following the SAsia model? This would mean that the CRL/SEAM will have to find some funding. Judith, would Ford Foundation in Hanoi be able to help us fulfill this idea? Or should we approach Luce and Ford again. But first, Judith what would is your assessment on this collection and whether it would be mostly dups from our collection? What do you all think of this

idea?

Susan,

Brad Davis, our History grad students who's currently in VN on Fulbright, will go to Hue in the next couple of days, and will report back. He's familiar with all the common sources for Chinese as well as French, so I would trust his judgment.

He's going to be standing in for Gerard as project manager for the SEAM filming project while Gerard is away from VN for the next 6 months, so he could also do some liaison work with the NL to get the portable camera to Hue, if there is anything there worth filming.
