Subject: [Vsg] online/downloadable versus electronic dictionaries

Hi folks,

I'm shopping for an electronic Viet-Anh/Anh-Viet dictionary and have been

surprised at how much they cost. Does anyone know of an online/downloadable

dictionary (free or paying) that approaches the number of entries of some of

the better electronic dictionaries (around 2 million, but at a cost of over

$200)? I found a Windows downloadable dictionary with 360,000 entries ($45),

but that's about it. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Charles,

I have the mtdEVA 2002. Don't know about getting it on line, but I saw

it in a shop on Bui Thi Xuan (TPHCM) for 180,000 licensed (it's a disc

that you install on your hard drive). If you're in Ha Noi, I'm sure you

could get it on that computer street near army HQ.

Dear Charles,

This is the online version of MTD (Lac-Viet Dictionary). I am not sure if

it is similar to the MTD CD (software) in Hanoi's CD Shops, but it is the

best one I have found.

In addition, there are two other sites for free online dictionaries. You do not need a Vietnamese language key board driver to them. There are still a few mis-translated, or not fully translated terms. (Example: formulary = formular from all 4 sites -- Lac Viet, KSVN, and these 2.)
