Subject: [Vsg] Educational Query from Australia
Dear Group,
I have received the following query from a Primary School Teacher in Melbourne, Australia:
Basically, I am looking for some lessons for my primary students where they can recreate some arts and crafts of Vietnam. So I would like them maybe to make a mask, some weaving, some silk lanterns etc, but adapted to materials usually found in schools. There doesn't seem to be much available.
Does anybody have a suggestion?
Kind Regards,
Mark.

Mark,
The Center for Southeast Asian Studies here at the University of Hawaii has a collection of Outreach materials designed for use by K-12 teachers. There are lots of different materials. See the website for more information www.hawaii.edu/cseas. I do not recall anything exactly like your request - i.e. a workbook on crafts of Vietnam - but there may be something similiar of use to you.
Many of the other National Resource Centers at Universities with strong Southeast Asian studies programs in the US may also be worth checking to see what sorts of Outreach materials are available (e.g. NIU, Univ. Wisconsin, Univ. Washington, etc)
