Dear VSG users,

The French Project VALEASE (Valorisation de l'Ecrit en Asie du Sud-Est) is supposed to put online a large collection of references dating from the Indochinese period. More than 5000 are expected to be available online this year.

Check VALEASE website for more infos: http://www.valease.org/index.php?lng=fr

About online resources, please click here: http://www.valease.org/news.php?lng=fr

A large number of references are already available in HCMC at two locations:

- IDECAF library (French Cultural Centre).

- HCMC National library.

Regards.

Dear Nicolas,

Thank you for updating us on the Valease Resources. There have been other postings to this list about the project, and we realize its potential value. I believe that these resources are currently only available within participating libraries in Viet Nam. It will certainly be a great gift to scholarship when they are made more widely available.

Best

subject Re: [Vsg] BEFEO online + Eglise d'Asie

Another French journal online, actually more like a newsletter, is Eglise d'Asie, published by the Foreign Missions of Paris:

http://eglasie.mepasie.org/

I believe Fr. Jean Mais is still the main author on Vietnam articles. I found this journal very helpful several years ago when I researched Catholics in Vietnam. The current issue is available only to paid subscribers but the text of articles from older issues (I believe two months or more older) are available free and it has a searchable database.

I don't know offhand how far back the online version goes.
