VSG colleagues --

I believe it is entirely appropriate to announce to all that our VSG

list moderator, Judith Henchy, successfully and in a spirited way

defended her dissertation yesterday. The "baby" this defense produced

is titled "Performing Modernity in the Writings of Nguyen An Ninh and

Phan Van Hum," weighs a good few pounds and will surely grow up to

become an important book, greatly enriching our field of Viet Nam

Studies. Warm congratulations to Judith!
