Subject: [Vsg] Colonial Environmentalism
Dear list,
can anyone direct me to sources on colonial discourses on the environment in Vietnam? There seems to be a large literature on the case of the British Empire but I am not aware of any analogue for the case of Indochina.
Relatedly, have there been studies on environmental discourse and policy in the pre-doi moi era?

Dear Jakob,
I strongly recommend that you contact Christophe Bonneuil. He did his PhD in
History of Sciences, and worked quite extensively on botanical gardens in
Indochina. His PhD is quite impressive if I remember. He compared colonial
policies towards natural environment in Indochina and Africa.
I have lost touch with him since I work in Cambodia but I know that he holds
a position at the CNRS. His work is definitively worth checking.
