Explain and share events completed during the Winter Break.
Common Core Literacy Standard
RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 9. Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.):
SDAIE: Model: Welcome Back: Teacher will guide students to their Kahoot login. Students without Chromebooks will use paper. Teacher will discuss grades and the beginning of Second Semester.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Model: Kahoot Procedures: Teacher will go over the procedure and expectations when playing Kahoot. Students will complete a 11 question Kahoot game dealing with Moreno's Classroom Procedures and Expectations. After each question teacher will clarify the expectation to the class.
Guided Practice (X min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitoring: Kahoot/Padlet: Teacher will progress monitor students as they complete their Kahoot and Padlet.
Independent Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: TPS/Metacognition: Kahoot Procedures: Students will complete a Kahoot dealing with Moreno's Classroom Procedures and Expectations. Students are returning from three weeks due to winter break and need a refresher. Winning student gets a prize.
SDAIE: QW/TPS: Padlet: Students will complete a series of eight questions dealing with what students did during the winter break. Teacher will share their experience and will then have students write their response. Two students will be selected at random by teacher to provide further explanation for extra points.

EdPuzzle: Africa Introduction due by Friday, January 13, 2023 at 5 p.m.
Closure ( 5 min.)
1. Clean up.
2. Take question/comments/announcements
3. Reset Edpuzzle for those needed.
4. Dismiss Class.
