Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Today I am learning about my classmates, teacher, and procedures by:
Introducing myself to my group and classmates. classroom expectations and procedures.
Identifying three historical images from grades 4th-6th that I should have been taught.
Understanding the classroom expectations and procedures.
Common Core Literacy Standard
WHST 9: Draw evidence from information texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Students will have selected a number as they walk into the classroom. Students will locate their seat by matching their number to their desks. Students will begin by analyzing the layout of the room and reading the distribution of the numbered desks to try to locate their seats.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: This is Me: Teacher will go over the directions of the assignment for box 1. Teacher will read the directions and simplify them to assure students understand the task at hand. Teacher will have one student repeat back the directions. Teacher will take any questions students may have after teacher is done giving directions.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: Think Pair Share/Video Clip: What Do I Remember: Teacher will introduce the second part of the assignment in box 2. Teacher will display three historical pictures that they should have learned in 6th grade and provide the historical importance of said picture. Students will then watch a video and take down 3 movie notes that go along with that picture. Teacher will go over the answers and students will correct their responses and teacher will demonstrate the standard that goes with that image.
Independent Practice (13 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition/Sentence Stems: This is Me: Students will complete a questionnaire by completing the sentence stems. Then they will introduce themselves to their group members and provide one interesting fact about themselves from the questionnaire.
SDAIE: Metacognition/Think Pair Share/Visuals: What Do I Remember: Student’s will write down a note(s) from what they remembered in 6th grade History as they analyze the images that they are given by the teacher. Students will then be given time to talk it over as a group and write down any other information they may get from their group members.

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
