I am learning about the Mongol Dynasty by:
1. Describing the changes Kublai Khan made to China's government.
2. Understand the rise of Genghis Khan.
3. Identify the impact of Imperial China under the Mongol rule.

Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
SDIAE: RACE/TPS: Starter: Students will be given four sentences in which they will read and place in order to create a proper paragraph that is written using the RACE method.
Direct Instruction (I Do…) (5 min.)
SDIAE: Model: Direct Teach: Genghis Khan Rise of the Mongols VBQ: Teacher will explain the assignment to the students. Students will watch a video and answer 5 questions. For students without their Chromebook they will read their textbook page 169 to answer their questions.
Guided Practice (We Do…) (10 min.)
SDIAE: TPS: The Period of Mongol Rule: Teacher will go over the answer to the Mongol Rule Cornell Notes. While going over the answer teacher will provide a short lecture and provide further clarification through examples. Between each Cornell Notes subject teacher will show short video clips explaining the rise of the Mongol Empire.
SDIAE: TPS/Direct Teach: Genghis Khan Rise of the Mongols: Teacher will go over the answer to the video.
Independent Practice (You Do…) (20 min.)
SDIAE: Chunked Reading/Jigsaw/Annotate/Talking to Text/Cornell Notes/Video Clip: Period of Mongol Rule Cornell Notes: Students will select one of four passages to read. They will read the chunked reading they selected and then annotate the passage that identifies the answers to the Cornell Notes. Students will take turns going over their answers. As one of the students explains their answers the other students will listen and complete the section of the Cornell Notes. Students will have 4 minutes to share their answers and write their answers in their Cornell Notes. After that teacher will lecture about the topic and provide further clarification. A short video clip will play between each topic. (Students need to finish this before moving on to box 3 and 4 today)
SDIAE: Sentence Stem/Video Clip/TPS/VBQ: Genghis Khan Rise of the Mongols VBQ: Students will watch a video which is located in their Google Classroom stream (pass out headphones and then collect at the end of the day). Students will watch the video and answer the question in complete sentence.
SDIAE: Chunked Reading/Jigsaw/Focus Notes: Life under Mongol Rule: Students will be assign a reading to complete. Students are to read their section and find possible evidence that will answer the questions provided by their teacher in their Focus Notes.
