1. navigate and be familiar with Padlet.
2. review classroom expectations and procedures.
3. discuss what we did during our break.
Common Core Literacy Standard
RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 9. Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
Daily Attendance: Teacher will take verbal attendance. Will be taken as students are working on their independent practice.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Model: Padlet: Teacher will model how to navigate and complete work through Padlet. Padlet is a discussion board that allows students to post in real time quick answers and to be able to check for understanding.
Guided Practice (x min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitoring: Padlet: Teacher will monitor answers on the discussion board and interact with students through their answers calling them to elaborate on their answers.
Independent Practice (16 min.)
SDAIE: QuickWrite: Padlet: Students will answer a series of 10 questions dealing with what they did during the break and classroom expectations.
SDAIE: VBQ: CNN10: Students will watch a CNN 10 report that highlights last week’s top news and complete a series of 8 questions.
SDAIE: Metacognition/TPS: Make Up Work: Students will work on their missing assignments once they are done with the quiz.
Homework.
EdPuzzle due by Friday at 5 p.m.
