Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Starter Quiz #1: Students will take a quiz based on last weeks starters.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Video Clip: Latitude and Longitude: Teacher will introduce the difference between absolute and relative location by showing them a military clip show casing WWII bombings to today's missle bombings. Teacher will then demonstrate how to use latitude and longitude to find absolute location on a map.
Guided Practice (5 min.)
SDAIE: Model/Direct Teach/Sentence Stems: Equator and Prime Meridian: Teacher will model to students the location of the imaginary lines of the equator and prime meridian on the globe. Students will be asked to label these lines and label the hemisphere's they create.
Independent Practice (11 min.)
SDAIE: Model/Essential Question/Sentence Stems: Equator and Prime Meridian: Students will follow along with the teacher as they label the equator and prime meridian on two globes and make notes on them. Students will then use those diagrams to answer two essential questions in complete sentences.
SDAIE: TPS/Visuals: Latitude and Longitude: Students will use a map with 10 plot points and be able to identify the latitude and longitude and given latitude and longitude will have to identify the point.
