Daily Journal: Read today's passage of "This day in history" and identify the 5 W's by highlighting the passage and finally answering the Essential Question.

8th Grade-SDAIE: Cloze Read: Adams Presidency: Teacher will cloze read the selection dealing with the election of 1796.
7th Grade-SDAIE: Close Read: Rise of the Gupta Empire: Teacher will Cloze Read the passage with the students.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
8th Grade-SDAIE: TPS: Adams Presidency: Teacher will go over the answers to the activity dealing with the election of 1796.
7th Grade-SDAIE: TPS: Gupta Empire Golden Age: Teacher will go over the achievements and importance of the Gupta's Golden Age.
Independent Practice (22 min.)
8th Grade-SDAIE: Chunking/Video Clips/TPS: Alien and Sedition Act: Students will read passage from the book on page 215 dealing with the Alien and Sedition Act. After the first two paragraphs teacher will show a clip and paraphrase what is going on and why Adams passed the Alien and Sedition Act.
8th Grade-SDAIE: Video Clip/Video Based Question: XYZ Affair: Students will watch a 2 minute video about the XYZ Affair and answer 4 Video Based Questions. Discuss with teacher after.
8th Grade-SDAIE: QW/Map Visual/CER: Adams Presidency Wrap Up: Students will sum up Adams Presidency and explain how the White House represents Adams Presidency.
7th Grade-SDAIE: Carousal: Gupta Empire Golden Age: Students will roam the classroom as they collaborate by discussing their research with other students of one of 7 achievements.
