Students will be able to:
Understand classroom expectations and procedures.
Model classroom expectations and procedures.
Identify the emergency evacuation route and primary buildings at Curtis.

WHST 9: Draw evidence from information texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
Anticipatory Set (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Social Skills: Teacher will go over the Social Skills that are established by the SBCUSD and enforced at Curtis Middles School. It is for exposure to the material as in Advisory each Social Skill is addressed more thoroughly.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach/Model: Classroom Procedures and Expectations: Teacher go over the classroom procedures and expectations covering entering and exiting the classroom, school materials, and food.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: Realia: Classroom Procedures and Expectations: Students will practice the classroom procedures and expectations after teacher has gone over them. Teacher will take students outside to demonstrate the evacuation route, MU, Library, Front Office, and Counselors offices.
Independent Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: Sentence Stems/Visuals: Classroom Procedures and Expectations: Student’s will complete their own one sentence summary using the sentence stems provided and the notes presented by the teacher. Students will practice said procedures after each one.
SDAIE: Notes/Graphic Organizer: Grading, Mobiles, Tardy Policy: Students take down notes explaining the grading policy. They will write down the percentage and grading scales. They will also summarize the mobile and tardy policy procedure. Students will practice said procedures after each one.
SDAIE: Video Clip/TPS/QW: Social Skills in Practice: Students will be introduced to the SBCUSD Social Skills. Students will then watch a video clip and be asked to identify three social skills that were not being followed from the video. There are at least 9 social skills infractions from the video clip. Students will complete a QW on how they manage/cope with controlling their behavior.

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
