Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Today I am learning about returning back from Spring Break by:
1. Reviewing the procedures and expectations in Mr. Moreno's classroom.
2. Blogging about my Spring Break experiences.
3. Reviewing the rise and fall of the Roman Empire.
Common Core Literacy Standard
RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 9. Draw evidence from informational texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
Kahoot: Teacher will tell students to prepare for their kahoot game.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Model/Direct Teach: Kahoot & Padlet: Teacher will frontload students on the assignments we will be doing in class today. Teacher will go over the Kahoot procedure and the Padlet expectations.
Guided Practice (x min.)
SDAIE: Progress Monitoring: Kahoot/Padlet : Teacher will progress monitor students activity on the Kahoot game and the answers on the Padlet wall.
Independent Practice (15 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Kahoot Procedures/Expectations: Students will participate in a Kahoot that covers the classroom expectations and procedures in Mr. Moreno's Classroom. Quick and fun way to review the procedures after being gone for two weeks.
SDAIE: QuickWrite: Padlet Review: Students will get a chance to test their comprehension of what they remember from the last unit before we took off on break and be able to share out with their classmates what they did during the two weeks off. Teacher created a 10 question Padlet that covers 5 review questions and 5 questions about their time during the break to share out.
