Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Today I am learning about advocating for my education by:
Creating an Aeries account to check my grades and missing assignments.
Working on any missing assignments in History class and my other subjects.
Common Core Literacy Standard
RH 2: Determine the central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions.
RH 4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary specific to domains related to history/social studies.
RH7: Integrate visual information (e.g., in charts, graphs, photographs, videos, or maps) with other information in print and digital texts
WHST 4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose and audience.
WHST 8: Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources.

Anticipatory Set (5 min.)
SDAIE: Chunk Reading/5 W's: Starter: Students will read a chunk passage from History's "This Day in History" and identify the 5 W's by highlighting them in the passage by color.
Direct Instruction (5 min.)
SDAIE: Model: Aeries Directions: Teacher will handout Aeries tags with student information that will help them set up their accounts. Teacher will go over directions so when they get to the library they know what to do.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: I do, You do: Aeries Accounts: Teacher and Kurth will guide students on how to create their Aeries accounts.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Annotate/Sentence Stem/Essential Question/Lexile Level: Pangea: Students will answer the essential question following the close reading and annotation of the passage dealing with Pangea. Reading of the passage as been dropped in lexile level to help with their reading understanding.
SDAIE: Model/Essential Question/Sentence Stems: Equator and Prime Meridian: Students will follow along with the teacher as they label the equator and prime meridian on two globes and make notes on them. Students will then use those diagrams to answer two essential questions in complete sentences.
Homework.
EdPuzzle: 5 Themes of Geography due by Friday August 16, 2024 by 5 p.m.
Closure (3 min.)
1. Clean up.
2. Dismiss Class.
Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
