Expected Student Outcomes (Objective)
Students will be:
1. ASSESSED on the classroom rules and procedures.
2. Assessed on a pre State test (8th grade)/continent and ocean test(7th grade)
Common Core Literacy Standard
WHST 9: Draw evidence from information texts to support analysis reflection, and research.
Anticipatory Set (3 min.)
SDAIE: Direct Teach: Teacher will model to students how to set up their test paper.
Direct Instruction (10 min.)
SDAIE: Model: Test Expectations: Teacher will go over the test taking procedures. Basically voice level of zero and keeping their eyes on their own paper. Teacher will explain the consequence of getting a zero on the test if they don't follow the procedures.
Guided Practice (10 min.)
SDAIE: monitor: Teacher will walk around the class monitoring the students. Once time is up students will swap papers and teacher and students will go over the answers to the test.
Independent Practice (25 min.)
SDAIE: Metacognition: Procedures Quiz: Students will complete a cloze paragraph about the classroom procedures. They will only write the answer on their paper.
SDAIE: Metacognition: USA/Continent Map Pre Test: Students will take a pretest on the states of the United States, the 7th graders will take a test on the continents and oceans. This is just a pretest is will measure what the students already know.

Lesson Modifications for GATE, RSP, and EL Students
EL: Projector (visuals), questioning, chunking, cognitive words, repetition, translation in Spanish.
RSP: Projector (visuals), questioning, modified assignments, check for understandings.
GATE: Require answers that will demonstrate depth and complexity of fertilization.
